The Sri Lankan Seniors Society is a non-profit based in Surrey, BC that hosts yearly Christmas events to brighten the holidays for local seniors, especially those without nearby family.
They needed beautifully designed event magazines that did more than share a schedule they needed something that felt personal, warm, and worth keeping.
We started by understanding the heart of these events: connection, tradition, and making every senior feel included.
• Looked at timeless holiday design styles to create a festive feel that wouldn’t age out by next year.
• Chose colors and imagery that felt inviting to older audiences while still celebrating Sri Lankan heritage.
• Planned the layout to make sure every page was easy to read, with larger type and clean sections.
Three Unique Magazines: Each year’s event got its own custom magazine design with fresh holiday themes, yet all felt like part of the same family.
Warm Color Palettes: Reds, golds, and soft greens paired with elegant fonts to echo the feeling of classic holiday gatherings.
Sentimental Imagery: Blended local event photos with festive illustrations to make seniors feel personally connected.
Accessible Layouts: Prioritized readability no cramped text or cluttered visuals so every guest could follow along comfortably.
